About the Law Society

The New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is the professional body for barristers and solicitors in New Zealand. The Law Society regulates all lawyers practising in New Zealand and is the membership organisation for practising lawyers. With 13 branch offices throughout the country, the Law Society is the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the practise of law in Aotearoa New Zealand and the consumers of legal services.

About the role

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Corporate Services department. You will be the first point of contact for visitors and phone queries to the Law Society’s national office, and be responsible for maintaining our Wellington office facilities.

You will be working with a collegial, supportive group as part of the wider Finance and Administration team, in a customer-centric role where you will engage with the public, our members, and Law Society staff across the country.  

This is a full-time office-based position working Monday to Friday.

What you will be doing:

  • Responding to visitors and answering phone enquiries from lawyers and the public
  • Assist at the front desk with administrative tasks including receiving documentation and liaising with appropriate internal staff
  • Coordination and booking of meeting rooms
  • Liaising with external providers and suppliers
  • Oversite of facilities including stocktakes of supplies and equipment

Our ideal applicant will have some, or all, of the below:

  • Previous experience in a receptionist, administration or facilities role
  • Knowledge or Microsoft Office suite and Zoom
  • Knowledge of building security/access systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Customer focus and ability to use initiative
