About the role

Recent growth in this remarkable firm has seen an expansion of its diverse and growing client base. This growth has created the need for a full-time Resource Management Lawyer to join their Dispute Resolution and Local Government team.  With an established local authority client base, both within and outside of the region, this will be your primary focus, but you will also assist with our private client development work.

This role will best suit an Associate with at least 5 years’ PQE (ideally 7+ years’ PQE) in resource management and local government law. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of local government and local authority issues, be capable of working autonomously with good support, and understand the importance of mentoring more junior members of the team.

  • Experience in Resource Management and Local Government law
  • Demonstrated understanding of local government and local authority issues
  • Excellent research and opinion-writing skills with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Environment Court documents, practices and procedures
  • Advocacy experience at Council level and in the Environment Court (advantageous but not essential)
  • A pragmatic problem solver and logical thinker with a solutions focussed approach to providing advice
