Senior Associate – Corporate and Commercial

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a senior associate to join our leading corporate and commercial team based in Auckland. 

This part of our team is led by partners David Thomson and Lisette Hood who specialise in corporate and commercial law, working with a number of high-profile private and public sector clients that shape New Zealand's commercial landscape. As a valued member of the team, you will primarily work with Lisette on a wide range of corporate transactions and commercial matters that include corporate advisory and structuring work, commercial contracting, procurement, corporate governance, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions. 

You will be an integral part of a team that works across major industry sectors, and with various national and multi-national businesses in both the private and public sector.

This is a great opportunity for you if you enjoy a varied diet of corporate and commercial legal work, have great commercial drafting skills, and are looking to advance your career in private practice. 

What matters to us

We value people who bring a different perspective, who are passionate, ambitious, curious and innovative. To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have eight or more years PQE in corporate and/or general commercial law with at least some of that experience gained in New Zealand
  • Have a track record of advising corporate clients on a range of commercial legal issues
  • Have the ability to run with transactions and files (you will always have partner support)
  • Be a great communicator and thrive in a collaborative and high-performing work environment
