The Solicitor-General invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Crown Counsel in the Cook Islands Crown Law Office in Rarotonga.

The Crown Law Office provides legal services to the government, including the King’s Representative, Cabinet, the Prime Minister, Ministers and other government entities and statutory bodies. Working in the Crown Law Office provides a unique opportunity to practice in a friendly and supportive environment across a diverse range of practice areas, including legislative drafting, commercial and contract law, litigation, criminal prosecutions, international law and public law.

Applicants for the Senior Crown Counsel position require 8-10 years experience in at least two of the following practice areas: public, regulatory, commercial, civil, criminal, and/or litigation (civil and/or criminal). We are particularly interested in candidates with significant criminal experience to help lead the Office’s prosecution function.

Senior Crown Counsel will also be required to assist with the legislative drafting programme, as well as the mentoring and supervision of junior and intermediate staff.

Remuneration will be competitive and commensurate with experience and job fit. Career paths are available for Cook Islanders, and 2-3 year contracts are available for expatriates.
