New Zealand Law Society - Senior Legal Counsel – Wellington

Senior Legal Counsel – Wellington

  • Key advisor to CEO and organisation as a whole
  • Flexible hours, approximately 30 per week

REANNZ provides a unique service and at a level few can attain. While being the NZ provider of network solutions to their members, primarily from the Research and Education sectors, they are interwoven and embedded with an international network in order to deliver these services globally.

They seek a well-qualified lawyer, with a minimum of 5 years PQE, from in-house or private practice, ideally the former. A background in contract law would be highly advantageous as you will be playing a lead role in advising the organisation in relation to both supplier and customer contractual arrangements. As part of these processes, you will also manage the relationships with REANNZ’s external counsel.

As a result of your work, you will enhance the understanding and capability of the business in relation to these critical contractual arrangements to ensure outcomes are equitable and commercially viable for REANNZ and the various stakeholders, both member organisations and suppliers.

Broader legal experience/knowledge will be well utilised across other areas of the business. Your predecessor was a superior contributor, having developed the role into one which is unquestionably seen as a trusted and valued internal advisor.

Experience within or across the government sector would be most advantageous.

The role is initially for a 12-month fixed term. As mentioned above there is flexibility as to the working structure, but experience suggests there will be at least 30 hours required per week.

While being a relatively small team, that team is passionate about the critical and central role they play, so are a highly supportive and dedicated group.
