TMT law has been a primary area of specialisation across both offices since Webb Henderson’s inception more than 10 years ago. It is one of Australasia’s leading firms focussing on TMT and one of the largest teams with 4 partners and 14 lawyers across the two offices.

Due to accelerating demands in the TMT area, Webb Henderson is keen to attract a talented lawyer with 2 to 7 years’ high quality commercial experience to join the team. TMT experience is not a prerequisite; a genuine interest in the area and a willingness to learn are.

You could expect to be involved in:

  • TMT commercial transactions, such as agreements for the construction of major telecommunications and internet infrastructure and for the supply of wholesale internet services;
  • Advising clients on major regulatory projects, particularly in the telecommunications and media sectors;
  • Assisting the corporate and finance partners and team with major transactions and projects involving a technology or privacy component; and
  • Advising on competition law matters, including working with the corporate and finance partners and team to advise on competition law aspects of potential M & A transactions.

In New Zealand, six partners, Garth Sinclair, Graeme Quigley, Nicole Xanthopol, Michael Gartshore, Henry Willis and Jordan Cox lead an experienced team.

Jordan leads the local TMT practice, working closely with the 3 Sydney TMT partners and team. He joined Webb Henderson as a graduate when the firm was established in 2009 and has specialised in TMT and competition law ever since. Apart from recognising his expertise and commitment to the growth of this practice area, his promotion to partnership demonstrates the career development opportunities available at Webb Henderson and the firm’s commitment to its own people. The TMT team acts for some of the world’s largest telecoms operators, media and technology companies and government clients, with high-profile engagements across New Zealand, Australia, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe. They focus on the most strategic TMT projects in these regions including:

  • The design implementation and reform of regulatory frameworks;

Garth and Graeme are two of New Zealand’s most experienced and well respected corporate lawyers and law firm leaders. Michael and Henry joined Webb Henderson after working at national law firms as well as internationally and like Jordan, their promotion as corporate partners is testament to their capability and contributions to the firm, along with the firm’s growth and commitment to its people. Nicole has 25 years significant, broad ranging banking and finance expertise and strong law firm leadership experience, gained early in her career as a partner in a magic circle London law firm, as well as subsequently in a national firm.
