In the six months to December 2019, 57 government agencies completed 100% of their OIA requests within the legislated timeframe.

The latest statistics, released 4 March 2020 by the State Services Commission, show 19,829 official information requests were answered across 114 government agencies in the last six months of 2019.

Overall, agencies responded to 19,383, or 97.8%, of requests on time, compared with the 97.4% requests answered on time in the January to June 2019 period.

1,788 OIA responses were actively published in the reporting period.

State Services Commissioner Peter Hughes says he expects agencies to continue to work hard to make official information more freely available.”

The Ombudsman made 24 final opinions against agencies from a total of 189 complaints.
