Tauranga barrister appointed District Court Judge

Tauranga barrister Dean Blair has been appointed a District Court Judge with a Family Court warrant to be based in Hamilton.

Judge Blair was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Nelson in November 1989. He worked there in law firms and as a sole practitioner. He has practised in Tauranga since 2003 and became a barrister sole in 2007.

His work has covered a range of civil and criminal matters in both the District Court and High Court, and employment law hearings and representation.  Since 2005, he has specialised in Family Court cases. He has received appointments as lawyer for the child in both the Family Court and High Court, and also other appointments as counsel to assist in cases covering other Family Court matters and as counsel in PPPR cases.

Judge Blair will be sworn in on 23 August 2019 at the Tauranga District Court from 4:00pm.
