Censured for providing trust administration services to the public while employed as a solicitor

Sonya Marie Vujnovich has been censured after admitting one charge of misconduct under s 9(1) to the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006.

Ms Vujnovich has admitted to providing regulated services to the public other than in the course of her employment by a lawyer from August 2008 until September 2015.

While the quality of the work itself was not challenged, the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal considered it a “serious, technical breach of this somewhat specific category of misconduct.”

Ms Vujnovich accepted responsibility early and cooperated with the disciplinary process. This led to the Standards Committee recommending to the Tribunal a modest level of penalty, which the Tribunal accepted.

The Tribunal decided to censure Ms Vujnovich and ordered her to pay costs of $5,000 to the Standards Committee and $914.50 in Tribunal costs. Further, it declined her application for name suppression.
