The New Zealand Law Society Regulatory Working Group is in the process of finalising its report, which identifies and proposes improvements to the legal profession's current regulatory framework, systems and processes.

The focus of the Working Group's work is to enable better reporting, prevention, detection and support of victims of sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination and any other unacceptable behaviour.

The Working Group aims to publicly release its final report by early December 2018.

It advises that if anyone wants to provide thoughts or comments about improvements to the current regulatory framework, they should contact the group through its email address workinggroup@lawsociety.org.nz.

A copy of the draft report may be provided on a confidential basis for the purpose of providing feedback. Any feedback received will be treated confidentially.

The five members of the Law Society’s Regulatory Working Group are:

  • Professor Elisabeth McDonald, University of Canterbury
  • Jane Drumm, General Manager of Shine
  • Joy Liddicoat, lawyer
  • Philip Hamlin, lawyer.
