Watch out for fake jury phishing email

This article is over 3 years old. More recent information on this subject may exist.

The New Zealand Law Society is warning people to beware of an email which purports to be an invitation to prospective jurors.

The email, which is headed "Dear Prospective Juror" and to be a "Justice Department Invitation" (New Zealand has a Ministry of Justice) contains a link which recipients are invited to click on to register. It is likely that clicking on the link would expose the computers of recipients to a virus or hacking.

The email reads as follows (as sent):

From: New Zealand Jury [mailto:mroth@k12.wv.us]
Sent: [Date]
To: [Name of recipient]
Subject: Justice Department Invitation
