AMINZ to make arbitrator appointments

The Arbitrators and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) says it has been appointed to make arbitrator appointments in the stead of the High Court.

It says its new role was confirmed this week by Associate Justice Minister Mark Mitchell.

A statement released by AMINZ Executive Director Deborah Hart says the decision follows AMINZ's advocacy for amendments to the Arbitration Act to remove reference to the HIgh Court in favour of an appropriate organisation.

"We sought to fill the position, and are naturally delighted that the government approved," she says.
