Chance to live in former Auckland courthouse on offer

A high level of interest is expected for an auction in Auckland on 25 May of a penthouse apartment occupying the former Auckland Magistrates' Courthouse in Kitchener Street.

The loft-style apartment has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The auction is being managed by Unlimited Potential real estate.

An old photo of the Auckland Magistrates' Court in 1919 is a stark reminder in the major changes which have taken place in the city over the last century.

Information from Heritage New Zealand states that the court was designed by architect John Campbell and Scotsman Claude Paton. It was built in 1912, with extensive use of Oamaru stone.
