The Department of Corrections has made new rules for items of property that prisoners may be issued with or allowed to keep subject to any conditions.

The Authorised Property Rules made on 27 October 2017 replace the Rules made on 10 March 2016 and were made by the Chief Executive of the department pursuant to section 45A of the Corrections Act 2004.

The rules are divided into schedules, covering property permitted on reception, prison owned property (such as bedding items and televisions), electrical items, clothing items and other authorised property.
