Along with the Ministry of Defence, the Crown Law Office had the biggest gap between the average salary for female employees and the average salary for male employees in the year to 30 June 2015.
Information on the Public Service Gender Pay Gap released by the State Services Commission shows the average salary for male Crown Law Office employees was 39% higher than the average salary for female employees. Over the whole public service, male employees' salaries were an average 14% higher than for female employees.
The "Gender Pay Gap" data is influenced by factors such as occupation, seniority and age. An important influencer is the fact that a higher proportion of women are employed in lower paid occupations. Across the whole public service, 29% of women and 8% of men are employed in three of the lower paid occupations (contact centre workers, clerical and administrative workers, and social, health and education workers).
