The levy-related provisions in sections 80 to 140 of the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 will now come into force on 1 July 2019 instead of 1 January 2019.

The Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act Commencement Order Revocation Order 2018 revokes the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act Commencement Order 2017.

An explanatory note to the revocation order - which comes into force on 3 May 2018 - says since making the 2017 commencement order it has become clear that there would not be sufficient time to implement the necessary changes in levy arrangements before 1 January 2019.

By revoking the commencement order, the revocation order - which itself is revoked on 31 May 2018 - has the effect of bringing section 2(6) of the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 into effect, meaning that sections 80 to 140 come into force on 1 July 2019.
