The New Zealand Law Society's Family Law Section has updated its Lawyer for Child Best Practice Guidelines.

The update has been made in respect of the relationship between lawyers for children and specialist report writers. This has been done to address concerns raised with specialist report writers with the Principal Family Court Judge.

The main changes are contained in paragraph 14 of the guidelines and were ratified by the New Zealand Law Society Board on 23 February.

The Practice Note: Specialist Report Writers will be updated and reissued by the Principal Family Court Judge in the near future.
