Sir Thomas Thorp, who was a judge of the HIgh Court from 1979 to 1996, has died in Auckland aged 92.
Sir Thomas was born in Napier and graduated LLB from the University of Auckland in 1947. He practised in Gisborne, becoming a partner in Nolan and Skeet in 1949. He was appointed Crown Solicitor in Gisborne in 1969 before being appointed a judge of the High Court in 1979.
Sir Thomas was knighted in 1997 after his retirement from the bench.
