The Ministry of Justice says it has updated its mileage rate paid to legal aid providers to align with the IRD rate.

The new rate is $0.79 per kilometre for all vehicles. This will apply to all legal aid invoices received from 5 August 2019.

"However to mitigate unnecessary administrative work, claims received after 5 August 2019 at the old rate can still be processed as claimed," the ministry says.
