The order brings into force on 1 June 2017 the provisions of Schedule 1 of the Act which relate to the Extradition Act 1999 and the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1992.
The Extradition Act changes bring into force a new section, section 101C, which deems offences involving trading in children or child prostitution to be included in extradition treaties.
The Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act adds sexual offences involving children and young people to the Optional Protocol to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution, and child pornography.
