MBIE has released updated government model contract templates. The 3rd edition templates may now be used for all contracts and must be used for all new contracts from 1 June 2020.
The templates are for lower value, low risk contracts.
The release follows consultation in 2019. MBIE says it received 34 submissions from a mix of suppliers and government agencies.
The Government Procurement Rules must be followed if the procurement is worth over $100,000 (or $9 million for new construction works) and the organisation is from a a government department, New Zealand Police, the New Zealand Defence Force, or most Crown entities. All other government agencies are encouraged to follow the Rules.
