The New Zealand Law Society has released an updated Practice Briefing on how people concerned about personal safety can have their details recorded on the Unpublished Electoral Roll.

Anyone who is eligible to enrol but who believes that having their details recorded on the printed electoral roll could threaten their personal safety or that of their family may request to go on the confidential unpublished roll.

Enrolment details on the unpublished roll are held securely by the Electoral Commission and not released to anyone.

People seeking to go on the unpublished roll are required to complete a form and supporting information. All applications are considered on their individual merit.
