Former Wellington lawyer and honorary life member of the Wellington District Law Society, Eric Hogg, died in January 1994 aged 96.

A Wellington College pupil and graduate of Victoria University of Wellington, Mr Hogg began legal practice with the firm of Luke and Kennedy in 1920. In 1928 he went into partnership in the firm of Hogg and Stewart, moving in 1950 to add his name to the firm of Bunny, Gillespie, Carter and Oakley. He remained there until his retirement in 1980.

Mr Hogg was active in law society affairs, becoming Wellington President in 1955.

He was a New Zealand Law Society Council member in 1955 and 1956 and served on a number of NZLS management committees: Management Committee SFGF (member 1954, 1956-1958, chairman 1959-1969), Standing Committee (1954-1956), Finance Committee (member 1956-1958, chairman 1959-1961), Costs Committee (chairman 1951-1957), Costs & Conveyancing Committee (member 1958-1964, chairman 1965-1966).
