Online advertised solicitor jobs down 18%

This article is over 3 years old. More recent information on this subject may exist.

Jobs advertised online for solicitors fell by 18% between the October 2015 and October 2016 quarters, according to information released by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

Jobs advertised online for the other legal category maintained by MBIE, "judicial and other legal professionals", rose by 16% over the same period.

The Jobs Online report measures changes in online job advertisements from three internet job boards – SEEK, Trade Me Jobs and the Education Gazette. MBIE says the trend series is used as the primary indicator as it reduces the month-to-month volatility.

Over the latest period MBIE says jobs advertised online grew overall in October 2016. The All Vacancies Index increased by 1.1%. Vacancies increased in seven out of eight industry groups and in all eight occupation groups.
