Jobs advertised online for solicitors rose by 14% between the April 2016 and April 2017 quarters - slightly ahead of the 11% growth in all jobs advertised over the period.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) latest Jobs Online report measures changes in online job advertisements from three internet job boards: SEEK, Trade Me Jobs and the Education Gazette. MBIE says the trend series is used as the primary indicator as it reduces the month-to-month volatility.

The other two categories in the legal sector showed markedly differing results. The "judicial and other legal professionals" category showed a 11% rise in jobs advertised online over the period, while there was a 16% decrease in jobs advertised online for conveyancers and legal executives.
