Two Auckland-based barristers have been appointed to the Court of Appeal of Pitcairn Islands.
Former High Court Judge Paul Heath QC and Miriam Dean QC have been appointed Justices of Appeal.
This follows the retirement from the Pitcairn Court of Appeal of Sir Bruce Robertson and Rodney Hansen QC.
The Assistant Attorney-General of Pitcairn Islands, Danielle Kelly, says this continues a long tradition of members of the New Zealand bench and bar serving in the Pitcairn Islands legal system.
She says at the swearing-in ceremony in May, the Pitcairn community welcomed the new judges and expressed its gratitude for the quality of legal services that has been provided from New Zealand.
