Seven New Zealand law firms have made the shortlist for the Asialaw Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards 2016.

The winners of the awards, by Euromoney-owned publisher Asialaw, will be announced in Hong Kong on 27 September 2016.

The New Zealand firms on the shortlist for the New Zealand law firm of the year are Bell Gully, Chapman Tripp, Lowndes, Minter Ellison Rudd Watts, Russell McVeagh, Simpson Grierson, and Wilson Harle.

Nominees for the award "Disputes Star of the Year - New Zealand" are William Akel (Simpson Grierson), Allison Ferguson (Wilson Harle), Sally Fitzgerald (Russell McVeagh), Daniel Kalderimis (Chapman Tripp), Zane Kennedy (Minter Ellison Rudd Watts), and Michael McCarthy (Lowndes).

Chapman Tripp is in the nominees for the international award "Best in Insurance" and Lowndes in the nominees for "Best in Shipping and Maritime", with Russell McVeagh nominated for "Best in Tax"
