Chris Merrick named partner at Meredith Connell
Meredith Connell announces Chris Merrick (Te Whakapiko, Ma'ufanga, Niua) will be joining as a Hoa Rangapū | Partner from 1 July.
Chris has been consulting for us over the past year and will be returning here full time, establishing a litigation, advisory and consultancy practice, with particular expertise in tikanga Māori in the law and Pacific legal issues.
Since leaving MC in 2012 to establish the firm Moala Merrick in Manukau with now Judge Soana Moala, Chris has developed a unique practice. This has seen him work in criminal defence, appellate intervention for Te Hunga Rōia Māori, law reform and advisory work, and as counsel assisting the Abuse in Care Royal Commission. Most recently he has been the co-lead lawyer to the Independent Inquiry into Dilworth School led by Dame Silvia Cartwright and Frances Joychild KC.
