Professor Warren Brookbanks from AUT Law School has been awarded a prestigious Visiting Professorship by the Leverhulme Trust which he will be taking up  in the first three months of 2018.

Professor Brookbanks will be based at Northumbria University Law School in Newcastle, England and working on a number of projects in the areas of criminal law and mental health law in collaboration with academic staff from Northumbria  Law School.

The objective of the Visiting Professorship award is to enable a distinguished academic based overseas to spend between 3 and 12 months at an English University in order to enhance the skills of academic staff or the student body within the host institution.

The overriding criteria for selection are the academic standing and achievements of the visitor as regards research and teaching and the ability of the receiving institution to benefit from their imported skills and expertise.

Professor Brookbanks is Professor of Criminal Law and Justice Studies and the Director of the Centre for Non-Adversarial Justice at AUT Law School.
