There were three exclusively New Zealand awards at the 2017 Australasian Law Awards, presented in Sydney on 18 May. The awards are held by Australian publishing company Key Media.

The New Zealand Deal Firm of the Year was won by Chapman Tripp.

The New Zealand Dealmaker of the Year was won by John Strowger of Chapman Tripp. Silvana Shenone of Minter Ellison Rudd Watts was Highly Commended.

The Russell McVeagh New Zealand In-house Team of the Year award was won by Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd.
