Technology law firm Simmonds Stewart has released a suite of legal templates for New Zealand lawyers to download free of charge.

The firm, which has offices in Auckland, Wellington and Singapore, says it released a suite of 20 free legal templates for download by New Zealand tech companies three years ago.

It says that since the launch of this free service there has been a very positive response from the tech and wider business communities.

"Now offering nearly 50 free New Zealand templates plus 12 free templates for Southeast Asian tech companies, there have been more than 125,000 downloads so far," it says.

Chief Executive Victoria Stewart says open sourcing creates efficiencies and helps with the development of best practice.

"For this reason, Simmonds Stewart decided to take the 'next step' by fully open sourcing our templates," she says.

"New Zealand lawyers will no longer need to pay to use our templates and instead may use them free of charge."

Lawyers may now access and use the templates from Simmonds Stewart's regular templates page. The firm says they are updated regularly and feedback is welcomed.
