The Wellington High Court building is expected to be back in business in early February 2017.

The building is temporarily closed as a result of the 14 November 2016 earthquake.

The Chief High Court Judge, Justice Venning, has advised that the Ministry of Justice has received reports from structural engineers that there was no structural damage to the building.

"It has further advised that repairs (largely to services such as air conditioning and sprinkler systems) will be sufficiently advanced so that the registry will be able to relocate back to Wellington High Court building at 2 Molesworth Street, Wellington by 1 February and that court sittings will resume there in early February," Justice Venning says.

Further information about the reopening of the courthouse will be placed on the Courts of New Zealand website.
