Members are appointed for terms of up to three years and may be reappointed for one further term.

The President must have held a practising certificate as a barrister or solicitor for at least seven years.

Given the Board’s role as an expert tribunal reviewing objectionable publications and material, members must be able to view sexually explicit, violent, sensitive and controversial material without undue distress.
