Bankside has welcomed commercial litigation and dispute resolution specialist Camille Butters to chambers.

Camille Butters

Camille has particular expertise in financial services litigation, with over a decade of experience advising leading corporates and participants in the financial services industry.

Prior to joining the independent bar in 2025, Camille was a Senior Associate at Russell McVeagh in the firm’s litigation team. She has worked with the Regulatory Affairs team at Westpac, and as part of the Enforcement team of the Financial Markets Authority.

In 2019, Camille worked at global law firm Clifford Chance in London with the litigation and dispute resolution team.

Financial regulatory and litigation case highlights include the investigation culminating in Financial Markets Authority v Tiger Brokers (NZ) Limited [2023] NZHC 1625, and acting in complex cross-border litigation to secure and sustain urgent freezing orders over assets exceeding USD 150 million (WH v YL [2021] NZHC 2968; WH v YL [2021] NZHC 3434; Harper v Love [2022] NZHC 2256).

Camille’s practice also includes complex litigation, dispute resolution, regulatory investigations and enforcement action, cross-border disputes, and seeking and defending injunctions.

Camille has been looking forward to joining Bankside after a period on parental leave and has appreciated the warmth of welcome from her new colleagues.
