Claro has appointed three staff to the role of Special Counsel and announced two other changes.

Wendy Beverley has been appointed Special Counsel.

She has many years’ experience advising public and private organisations on health and medico-legal issues, including sharing and disclosure of information, consent, PPPR Act, mental health and elder care, refusal of treatment, and other matters relating to patients’ rights.

Aisling Weir. 

Aisling Weir has been appointed Special Counsel.

She is a senior commercial lawyer who specialises in general commercial contracting, procurement processes and the development and commercialisation of health technology.  

Since joining Claro in 2014, Aisling has worked on a number of major projects including large DHB procurements, outsourcing and service agreements.

Belinda Johns. 

Belinda Johns has been appointed Special Counsel.

She is a medical law specialist and experienced in all aspects of civil litigation.

Belinda joined Claro in 2015 and has since been involved in wide range of proceedings, from prosecuting and defending health practitioners before the HPDT to ground breaking medical/ethical proceedings in the High Court.

Andrea Lane has joined Claro as a solicitor, based in Christchurch.

She has practical health sector experience having previously worked as a radiographer.

Andrea was admitted to the bar in 2015 and most recently worked in the commercial team at a large national firm.
