Chapman Tripp announces newly appointed Partners and Special Counsel
Chapman Tripp has announced the promotion of Emma Peart and Janko Marcetic to the partnership, and Rebecca Tompkins to Special Counsel.
The Wellington Office and Law Library will be closed to the public today, Monday 16 February, due to the severe weather in Wellington and the lower North Island.
The office and Library will reopen to the public tomorrow (Tuesday 17 February).
Emma Peart is a commercial litigation and arbitration lawyer with a particular focus on banking and financial services matters. She advises and represents public and private sector clients on complex commercial and regulatory matters and disputes. Emma represents clients in investigations, court proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution including arbitration. She is also part of Chapman Tripp’s international law team and is experienced in cross-border litigation and arbitration.
Janko Marcetic is an experienced commercial litigator specialising in restructuring and insolvency, and banking and financial services disputes. He advises insolvency practitioners on complex issues during receivership, liquidation and administration. He also acts for banks and financial institutions in a range of civil and regulatory matters. Janko has appeared as counsel at all levels of the New Zealand court system, including as lead counsel in the Court of Appeal, High Court and District Court.
Rebecca Tompkins is an experienced environmental and planning lawyer, with almost two decades of experience advising public and private sector clients on large-scale infrastructure and energy projects, urban development, commercial contracts and due diligence investigations, across New Zealand and Australia. Her extensive experience spans the areas of legislative reform and policy advice and liability and regulatory obligations and compliance, including advising on legal strategies for the management of risk in commercial transactions.
All promotions are effective from 1 December 2025.
