Erica Burke joins Kate Sheppard Chambers
Kate Sheppard Chambers has welcomed Erica Burke.
Erica is a specialist family law barrister who supports clients in matters involving care of children, guardianship disputes, family violence, relationship property, and spousal maintenance. Throughout her career, Erica has practised exclusively in family law and for the past decade, provided clear, strategic advocacy across a wide range of family law matters. Erica advocates for her clients in Court and in mediations and has also been appointed by the Family Court to represent the best interests of children in legal proceedings.
In 2024, Erica received the Borrin Foundation Travel and Learning Award supporting her to travel overseas to visit, learn from, and establish relationships with women’s legal clinics providing targeted legal support and advocacy for women. Erica is Vice President of the Auckland Women Lawyers’ Association and is a mentor for He Ira Wāhine – University of Auckland Women in Law Mentoring Programme. She is a Member of the NZLS Family Law Section Advisory Panel and was Co-Editor in Chief of the New Zealand Women’s Law Journal – Te Aho Kawe Kaupapa Ture a ngā Wāhine for the 2023 edition.
Erica is based in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland and is available for instruction throughout New Zealand.
