Health sector law firm Claro announces a promotion and new appointment
Gillian Weir has been promoted to Senior Associate at health sector law firm Claro, and Abigail Brand has joined the Christchurch office as a Senior Solicitor.
Gillian Weir – Senior Associate
Gillian graduated BA/LLB in 1996 and practised for more than a decade as an employment lawyer and commercial litigator at large firms in London (Eversheds) and Auckland (DLA Piper). Having decided to shift her focus to health law, Gillian graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Bioethics and Health Law (with Distinction) from the University of Otago in 2018. Gillian enjoys combining her large firm experience with her passion for the health sector in her role at Claro.
Abigail Brand – Senior Solicitor
Abigail began her legal career in Kensington Swan’s litigation team in 2009, following which she practised in Australia as an Associate at international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright where she gained further experience in dispute resolution. Most recently, Abi worked with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, initially as an investigator and then as a legal advisor on matters relating to the regulation and discipline of health practitioners. Since joining Claro, Abi has represented clients in relation to prosecutions before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal and has advised on complaints to the Health and Disability Commissioner.
