Ian Hunt appointed to international sports arbitrators panel

Young Hunter litigation partner and sports lawyer Ian Hunt was appointed a member of the panel of arbitrators of the international Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) from 1 January 2018.

The CAS is an independent institution, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and with offices in Sydney and New York, which was created in 1984 to provide dispute resolution services in the field of sport. The CAS jurisdiction is recognised by all Olympic sports, and many non Olympic sports federations. In 2017, the CAS registered 572 arbitration procedures.

Ian has had 20 years experience as a sports lawyer, advising individuals and organisations in a wide variety of sports, in dispute resolution and governance.

He is a former President of the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association and is currently a director of High Performance Sport New Zealand.
