Kate Sheppard Chambers welcomes Deb Davies

Kate Sheppard Chambers has announced that Deb Davies has joined.

Deb has more than 25 years’ experience in criminal litigation. She has appeared as counsel in over 200 jury trials in both District and High Courts, has appeared on numerous appeals, and has had considerable involvement with regulatory prosecutions over the course of her career 

After her admission to the bar in 1998, Deb worked initially at the Crown Law Office, then for the office of the Hamilton Crown Solicitor between 1999 and 2005. In 2005, she worked for the office of the Crown Solicitor at Palmerston North, initially as a senior prosecutor, then principal prosecutor. She was made a partner of the firm in 2021. Deb joined the independent bar in September 2023, specialising in criminal defence work and conducts criminal trials and appeals. Deb is a faculty member for the Litigation Skills programme and is on the Crown panel in Whangārei.  

Deb’s focus is on providing outstanding advocacy, as well as warm, commonsense advice and creative solutions within the framework of the criminal justice system. She represents clients charged with the most serious of alleged criminal offending, both privately and as a legal aid provider. Deb is based in Palmerston North.
