Samoa lawyer Su'a Hellene Wallwork has become the new President of the Samoa Law Society.

Ms Wallwork is a partner at Wallwork Lam Lawyers, a Director of the Electric Power Corporation and Honorary Consul of Sweden in Samoa.

She takes over as President from Savalenoa Mareva Betham-Annandale. Salma Hazelman becomes Vice-President of the Samoa Law Society, and the executive comprises five women and one man.

Ms Wallwork told the Samoa Observer that her goal for the Law Society is to provide more opportunities to connect and learn from one another.

"As barristers and solicitors of the Supreme Court of Samoa, we hold a privileged position within society. At the same time also, our profession is one of service," she says.

"We are expected to serve, to advocate for justice, to defend the defenseless and to provide wise counsel to clients."
