WRMK Lawyers announces five new promotions

WRMK Lawyers has announced the promotion of a new Special Counsel and four senior lawyers.

New Special Counsel 

David Adams, Dispute Resolution (Whangarei) 

David is a specialist in relationship property and contentious trust and estate matters within WRMK’s Dispute Resolution team, with extensive experience in both the Family Court and High Court. He is a member of AMINZ, an affiliate of STEP, a founding trustee of Tai Tokerau Family Law Trust, and is frequently involved in complex disputes involving family businesses, estates, and high-value assets. 

New Senior Lawyers 

Amelia Roberts, Dispute Resolution (Kerikeri/Whangarei) 

Amelia is a criminal law specialist in the Dispute Resolution team with over four years’ experience representing clients in the District Court and High Court. She began her legal career working in house at a local council. Amelia started work in criminal law in 2020 as an employed barrister in Auckland, where she assisted on a broad range of criminal and regulatory prosecutions, before moving to Northland and joining WRMK Lawyers in 2024. 

Jonathon Riley, Dispute Resolution (Whangarei) 

Jonathon is part of the dispute resolution team, specialising in criminal law. He began his legal career with the Prosecution Service and is now an experienced advocate in civil and criminal proceedings in the District Court and High Court, with a particular focus on defending land transport, animal welfare, and firearms-related prosecutions. 

Keegan Jones, Business Law (Whangarei) 

Keegan is a member of the business team, specialising in commercial law, construction and business sale and purchases. He is a Law Society Auckland Branch Council member and, before entering private practice, he worked in the public sector as an advisor for Te Puni Kokiri (Ministry of Māori Development). 

Madaleine (Maddie) Doherty, Estates And Life Planning (Whangarei) 

Maddie is a member of the Estates and Life Planning team, specialising in relationship property and family law. She has particular experience advising clients on separations - both contentious and non-contentious - and regularly prepares, and provides independent legal advice on, contracting out agreements to help clients plan for and protect their property interests in the context of their relationships. Maddie also works across estate planning and disputes and assists with matters involving personal care and welfare, parenting, and family violence.

Today, the organisation has 11 directors, a further 28 lawyers/law clerks, 10 legal executives and a team of support people serving its clients in the areas of commercial, property, rural, employment, wills and estates, trusts, asset/wealth protection, litigation/disputes and relationship and family property.
