Location: Auckland, New Zealand 
Employment Type: Part-time 
Ideal Candidate: Semi-retired Solicitor with property law and conveyancing experience, holding current trust qualifications, having completed the Stepping Up program. 

Role Purpose 

The NZ Trust Person will act as a Director, and the Trust Account Supervisor for LL NZ and serve as the designated compliance officer for key workplace policies. This role ensures adherence to trust accounting regulations, legislative requirements, and organisational standards. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Trust Account Supervision 

  • Administer all trust accounting functions for LL NZ, including:

- Accurate maintenance of trust account records.

- Preparation and submission of required reports and certifications. 

  • Ensure compliance with all trust account rules and regulations. 
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and provide training or guidance to relevant staff. 

2. Director & active board participant 

  • Attend and participate in quarterly board meetings 

3. Policy Compliance 

  • Act as the designated person responsible for policies relating to:  

- Bullying 

- Discrimination 

- Harassment (including racial and sexual harassment) 

- Violence 

  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and organisational standards. 
  • Serve as a point of contact for reporting and resolving issues under these policies. 

4. LINZ Trusted Contact 

Potentially serve as LL NZ’s single designated Trusted Contact for LINZ, ensuring secure and compliant communication. 

5. Property law & conveyancing consulting (ad-hoc) 

  • Provide advice and consultation in regard to NZ conveyancing matters and process. 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Property law, commercial & conveyancing required. 
  • Wills & estates an advantage. 
  • Completion of Stepping Up program. 
  • Current trust account qualifications. 
  • Strong understanding of trust accounting regulations and compliance requirements. 
  • Familiarity with workplace conduct legislation and policy implementation. 
  • Excellent integrity, discretion, and communication skills.
