Expressions of Interest: Judge of the Supreme Court or Justice of Appeal in Pitcairn Islands Courts

This is a call for expressions of interest to serve as a Judge of the Supreme Court or Justice of Appeal in the Pitcairn Islands Courts. A suitable candidate will have experience as a judge in a Commonwealth jurisdiction, or have been entitled to practise in a court in such a jurisdiction for more than seven years.

The Supreme Court has original and unlimited jurisdiction in civil and serious criminal cases. The Court of Appeal has jurisdiction to hear appeals from the Pitcairn Supreme Court. In some cases, judgments of the Pitcairn Islands Court of Appeal may be appealed to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

In all recent hearings, the court (and counsel) have participated from New Zealand via audio-visual link.

Further information is available on the Government of Pitcairn Islands website: www.government.pn/government/notices

Expressions of interest (with a curriculum vitae) should be sent to the Deputy Governor of Pitcairn Islands, Paul Greenhalgh, at paul.greenhalgh@fcdo.gov.uk by 20 April 2026.
