The 2026/2027 Practising Certificate renewals are open. Please renew by 30 June 2026.
Expressions of interest are sought for a voluntary lawyer member position on the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal.
The Tribunal hears and determines disciplinary charges against members of the legal and conveyancing professions under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006. The Tribunal also receives applications regarding suspension, striking off, revocation of orders and resolution of practitioners to the roll or register. Appointments are made by the Board of the New Zealand Law Society Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa under delegation from the Law Society Council.
Applications for appointment are sought from experienced lawyers who are currently practising and have practised as a lawyer for more than seven years. The Tribunal is particularly looking for lawyers with trusts and estates experience in the Wellington and Auckland regions. Candidates must be of good character and possess the skills, experience and judgement needed to deal with disciplinary proceedings and make appropriate decisions.
The Law Society is committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion and to recognising the bicultural foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand. We encourage applications from a range of backgrounds and from candidates fluent in a second language including Te Reo Māori.
