Mark Colthart

Mark has more than 30 years’ experience in civil and commercial disputes. Over the past decade, his arbitration and adjudication practice has grown, supported by longstanding relationships with organisations such as the Building Disputes Tribunal, the New Zealand Dispute Resolution Centre, and AMINZ.

In recent years, Mark has acted as arbitrator or adjudicator in over 75 arbitrations and construction adjudications. He has been regularly appointed to determine disputes under agreements for the sale and purchase of real estate and businesses. Additionally, Mark has issued awards and determinations across disputes ranging from $50k to over $10m, including matters involving property, construction, infrastructure, forestry and rural land, commercial leases, business sales, shareholder disputes, trusts, and commercial contracts.

Mark’s practice is now focused exclusively on arbitration, adjudication, and expert determination. He is available for appointments nationwide and tailors processes to the needs of each dispute, including remote conferences and hearings where appropriate.
