Under Alert Level 2 hours for the Wellington Library are 8.30am to 5.00pm. Access is by swipe card only or by arrangement.

The Wellington Library is located in the Wellington High Court building, Kate Sheppard Place entrance. (location map).
We are staffed 8.30am–5.00pm Mon–Fri.
After-hours (including weekends) the lights and air conditioning may be switched off. To turn on the lights and to start the air conditioning turn on the switches to the right of door on entering, clockwise. The air conditioning will run for three hours.
All library content, and its location, can be found in the Library catalogue on the computers.

The Library is divided into two main sections
Closed Reserve material is shelved in the Library workroom and will need to be signed for.
Use the library catalogue to find journals and reports by title; it gives the bay number for each one.
The Library uses the Moys classification system the numbering will generally start with KL (Common Law - General), KM (Common Law - public law) or KN (Private law). A set of numbers follows the letters to indicate specific subject areas. To help you locate subject areas within the textbooks, a list of the associated numbers is attached to the end of each row of shelves, as is a list of books on Reserve.
The Law Society Library also has an extensive online collection of databases, some of which are only available from the Wellington High Court location. Four computers are available for practitioners to use to access these databases.

The Library has three photocopiers/printers available for use. Instructions on how to use these are located by the photocopiers.
The Library's subscription databases (LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters and CCH) can be accessed via WiFi and PDFs can be saved to your laptop. However printing via WiFi is not currently available.
Gowns for Court use can be hired from the Library daily or for extended periods (25% discount for more than 10 working days). We advise booking in advance.
Full length lockers can be hired for any time period but are commonly taken on a long term basis. The annual cost is $150.00 plus GST. Our normal billing period is 1 January to 31 December in each year. The lockers are situated in the robing room next to the toilets.
There are many desks located around the Library, and power points are available at wall seats.
The Library also has six small rooms (carrels) available for use. These provide extra privacy and a place for quiet discussion and are situated by the Australian collection.
The Library has a lounge available for practitioners use. It has a small kitchen which has tea and coffee making facilities. Additionally there is a microwave, toaster and fridge.
The furniture in the room includes tables, chairs and a lounge suite.
The Dominion Post is provided from Monday to Friday.
