The Judicial Appointments and Discipline Panel of H.M. Privy Council are seeking expressions of interest from past and present members of the New Zealand Judiciary or from barristers of King’s Counsel status interested in appointment as a Tongan Supreme Court Justice effective 1st April 2026.

Anyone lodging an expression of interest is asked to provide full personal particulars; a detailed curriculum vitae; and any further material he or she considers relevant to the appointment. At least two written professional references and two written character references should also be provided, together with contact details of those persons. Terms and conditions of service will be provided to applicants who are shortlisted.

Expressions of interest should be sent by e-mail to the Judicial Panel at JADP.TONGA@GMAIL.COM to be received no later than 1200 Hours (Tongan Time) on Monday, 5th January 2026. All expressions of interest will be treated in the strictest confidence. Applicants who are short-listed by the Panel will be invited to interview. The Panel will then make a recommendation for consideration by H.M. the King in Privy Council: the appointment is made by the King.
