Are you passionate about property law and eager to make a meaningful impact? Te Tumu Paeroa are seeking a dedicated and skilled legal professional to join their dynamic and hardworking in-house legal team. 

He angitūtanga: About the Role: 

As the successful candidate, you will apply your legal expertise and practical experience to navigate complex property issues. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Working with the business in all aspects of the legal work of the Māori Trustee, with a strong focus on property law as well as Māori land law, trusts law, estates, landlord and tenant, commercial and contract, resource management, legislative compliance, opinion work, litigation and dispute management including appearances as counsel.  
  • Assisting the General Counsel of the Māori Trustee to manage the legal issues of the Māori Trustee.  

Skills and experience: 

  • A comprehensive understanding of various aspects of property law and related fields.  
  • Approx 4 – 5 years' post-admission in-house or commercial law firm experience, with a strong property law background. 
  • A current practising certificate issued by NZLS. 
  • Experience in as many of the following areas of law: Māori land law, trusts law, estates, landlord and tenant, conveyancing and general property, commercial and contract, resource management, legislative compliance, opinion work, litigation and dispute management. 
  • Ability to provide quality legal advice which is strategic, accurate, solutions focused and well targeted.
