Junior Crown Prosecutor - Christchurch

Raymond Donnelly & Co, the Office of the Crown Solicitor for Christchurch and Greymouth, is seeking a capable and motivated Junior Prosecutor to join our team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a graduate or early‑career lawyer to develop strong advocacy skills and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality prosecution services on behalf of the Crown.

What you’ll do

  • Appear in the District Court on bail applications, sentencings, case reviews, and other prosecution matters
  • Assist with trials and appeals, gaining exposure to serious and complex criminal cases
  • Prepare and manage prosecution files to meet CPA requirements
  • Work closely with senior prosecutors and learn from experienced trial lawyers
  • Participate in ongoing legal education and maintain high professional standards

Who we’re looking for

  • A recent graduate or solicitor with up to 3 years’ PQE
  • Strong interest in criminal law, public service, and courtroom advocacy
  • Clear communicator with developing advocacy skills
  • Organised and detail‑focused
  • A team player who has strong people skills and builds positive working relationships
