Junior Crown Prosecutor - Christchurch
Raymond Donnelly & Co, the Office of the Crown Solicitor for Christchurch and Greymouth, is seeking a capable and motivated Junior Prosecutor to join our team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a graduate or early‑career lawyer to develop strong advocacy skills and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality prosecution services on behalf of the Crown.
What you’ll do
Appear in the District Court on bail applications, sentencings, case reviews, and other prosecution matters
Assist with trials and appeals, gaining exposure to serious and complex criminal cases
Prepare and manage prosecution files to meet CPA requirements
Work closely with senior prosecutors and learn from experienced trial lawyers
Participate in ongoing legal education and maintain high professional standards
Who we’re looking for
A recent graduate or solicitor with up to 3 years’ PQE
Strong interest in criminal law, public service, and courtroom advocacy
Clear communicator with developing advocacy skills
Organised and detail‑focused
A team player who has strong people skills and builds positive working relationships
